WINTER FORMAL 2014

Round three of winter formal with these lovely ladies, nothing is ever boring with them. This year I opted for a jumpsuit rather than the typical dress. I've been wearing pink and neutrals the past couple formals so I went with black and dark lips, I'm digging this look.

Felt pretty good in my pleather jacket and fur scarf (sorry animal lovers... my grandma passed it down to me from when she was younger) which I thought completed the look pretty well.

The venue was on the 7th floor of a building in San Jose, pretty nice scene of the city.

Outfit: Jumpsuit-Express  Lips- Rimmel 124 "Bordeaux"

Isn't Jennica's holographic dress gorgeous?? It's the Yez dress from Tobi.

You know that horrible feeling of going jeans shopping and nothing fits right? That was me while searching for the perfect outfit and I was getting quite disappointed by the lack of dresses that fit me "just right". I came across this jumpsuit after I had already bought a back up dress from Forever 21. (That one was a flapper style black fringe dress. Cute, but not the most comfortable. Returned)
This jumpsuit fit me like a glove and surprisingly I didn't even have to roll up the hem. As a short human I never imagined to be able to pull of a jumpsuit.

Also shout out to my super sweet friends that went on a hunt for the lipstick I've been wanting for a while now. Revlon's "Black Cherry", a super dark vampy lipstick is always out of stock and they went to two different Targets with hopes of finding it- they ended up getting me the perfect dupe since they sold out of the original. Thanks Maddy and Juju :)

ONE STARRY NIGHT CONCERT

Alright it's 1 AM and I'm ready to crash so here is one big photo dump and fan girl moment of Ingrid Michaelson and Mary Lambert aka my QUEENS. My first concert was crazy and fun and as cliche as it sounds it feels like a dream, I don't believe that we even went to school today. Ingrid live was incredible, and I'm so happy she sang both old and new songs. Ingrid and Mary treated us to one holiday song and connected so well with the audience. Our nearly 2 hour trip to SF by train and 3 hour wait was all definitely worth it :)

I've been missing in action with the whole blogging thing so here's an update: I snagged a new camera and a pleather jacket so I'm complete now and am not going to take either of the things off everrrrr.

And may I add, I'm completely new to this whole photography thing with a nice camera...I'll be figuring out things along the way.

My outfit: Jacket-Zara, Shirt- Urban Outfitters, Jeans- (yas mom jeans)- Topshop, Booties/Socks, Topshop, Lipstick-Mary Kay's Black Cherry

I honestly dress for comfort but I do deeply regret wearing my booties...no matter how comfy they are to me they just aren't gonna last me 5+ hours of standing/walking. My feet were ready to give out by the end of the night. Oh well, we learn from our mistakes so I'll keep that in mind for future concerts :)

When we finally saw the Warfield sign...people could have heard our muffled squeals and shouts of excitement from a mile away.

Mary Lambert wins as the cutest human being on earth. She wrote a poem called Body Love and I think everyone in the audience could really connect, it made me tear up and want to give her a big teddy bear hug. The things she sings about are so positive and uplifting, it's nice to hear songs that are empowering as hers.

(Can I just add how lucky we were to be right in the front? It made the whole concert experience 10000x better. We shorties finally got the best view)

When the uke came out everyone flipped shit because when the ukulele's out you know she's gonna play You and I.

Ingrid's style game is on point- velvet romper with sheer black tights topped with killer heels? I need her outfit.

I've taken a gazillion other photos of her (yes I was that annoying guy that took pictures at a concert with a dslr) but a lot of them were too bright and the security guard that stood right in front of the stage kept getting in the photo.

Jennica and I's 6th grade girl dream of seeing Ingrid perform live  finally came true and it still feels unreal. I can't do her performance justice by just explaining it with words... the only thing I can say is that it was unbelievably wonderful and it's amazing to finally see that she's a real human being (and she sounds even better in person).

GOODNIGHT WORLD

BACK TO SCHOOL THRIFT SHOPPING

I'm trying to spend the last week of my summer to it's fullest potential, so naturally I went thrifting when a friend of mine invited me. Every time we wanted to go here it would already be closed so we were smart enough to get there early that day.

MY DAY

MY OUTFIT

Mini outfit of the day for ya.
Tshirt- Uniqlo, Shorts & Knee Highs-Target, Shoes-Boohoo.com

Meet: CELINE. She has purple hair and likes One Direction. Also a super fun thrift shop buddy!

We didn't...actually go to Boudin Bakery, here we're having some donuts and Arizona Tea at Stan's Donuts.

I walked into the thrift store with 40 bucks and expected to spend at least 20 (because lately "second hand stores" are all raising their prices to insane numbers) but I surprisingly left with 30 bucks left. Strangely enough, all the clothing pieces were labeled as $3.00 but the lady only charged us $1.50. This local thrift has by far the lowest prices and a pretty good selection, I would give it  8/10 stars :)

MY FINDS

All  pieces were $1.50 each! I'll be altering the ivory pleated skirt since it's pretty big and for a short person that skirt is a lil too long. I'm thinking about posting a "how to hem/shorten your skirt" tutorial post but I honestly can't promise anything once school starts.

**fun fact: the second I laid my eyes on the cardigan I knew I wanted it but right next to it was another one, nearly identical. Now Celine and I have matching cardi's :)

I realize all the patterns I bought are for kids but I've grown used to altering them after working on my mermaid dress. I really would like to sew up a cute jumper :)

I'm in love with my tacky cat stickers and all this miscellaneous junk I snagged for a couple bucks. The wooden bear+baby pin+heart puffs will be turned into pins sometime soon. Also those barbie hands...maybe a crown?? The tinsel will most definitely be on a headband.

Adios lovelies, I'll be back with a Back to School Lookbook-ish/Outfit of the Week shenanigan.
